Hi! I'm Lesley Hackett. From time to time you might see me covering for Kjay as a coach here at SCE Fitness and other times, I'll be training right alongside you. 🙂
It's hard to say when my passion for fitness really took flight. I was an active kid and grew up playing multiple sports in high school. After I graduated, I dove into the gym scene as a means of staying fit. Sadly, it became an unhealthy obsession that took me down a road to an eating disorder and an unhealthy intensity for exercise that kept me in an anxious state for several years. I was training as a means solely to burn calories but without the joy. I didn't have direction or even a knowledge of how to properly exercise. I had a nickname of being the "cardio queen".
Why do I tell you this? Because I've found that it's not that uncommon. For me, that part of my life was over 10 years ago and to the glory of God, a part that isn't hard to talk about because it led me on a journey that has changed me to who I am today. Do I still workout for a means of burning calories? Absolutely. And I probably train with greater intensity and vigor than ever before. But it's with purpose now. It's with direction and guidance. And most importantly, I have joy and a passion to train. I love challenges. I love the drive to see what my body is capable of. And I have learned that that is okay when done properly and in a healthy way. SCE fitness has helped me grow exponentially with this when I found this gym a little over 2 years ago.
Overall, I desire to be the strongest and healthiest version of me for 3 main reasons: 1) I want to compete as an elite Spartan racer. 2) I want to set an example for my kids - to inspire them and be an example of grit, determination, goal-setting, and discipline. 3) To point people to Jesus, my source of ultimate strength.
Because I have a passion for fitness and nutrition, I have obtained several certifications and went to school to enhance my knowledge of exercise physiology.
I currently work as a clinical exercise physiologist doing cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. I want to help others become the healthiest versions of themselves through nutrition and exercise.
I hope my story speaks to some of you. Please come say hi and introduce yourself to me if I haven't met you. I'm happy to help or assist in any way I can. And if you're thinking about joining SCE Fitness, don't hesitate. There's a family and team here that is willing and ready to cheer you on, encourage, and enhance your training to places you've never been before. Come join us!
