Owner/Master Fitness and Life Coach
Physical fitness has been a huge part of my life—and the lives of others I’ve had the privilege of working with—for more than 17 years. But long before I became a personal trainer, coach, or gym owner, I spent much of my life unhappy with the choices I had made.
I was overweight, tired, unhealthy, and searching for something different. I had made plenty of mistakes and experienced my share of failures, but those experiences ultimately taught me something important: change is possible when we are willing to do the work.
In 2008, my life changed in a way that went far beyond losing weight or getting into better shape. I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. I had spent years trying to find purpose, identity, and fulfillment in the wrong places, but Christ began changing me after I gave my life to Him.
I lost 72 pounds, quit smoking, and began a completely different journey—not simply toward becoming healthier, but toward becoming the man God was calling me to be. He didn’t just change my mind; He changed my heart and gave me different desires.
That journey eventually led me to personal training.
I discovered that fitness could be much more than building muscle, losing weight, or crossing a finish line. Physical training could open the door to people's hearts. It could create relationships, build trust, teach perseverance, and give me an opportunity to walk alongside people through some of the most difficult and meaningful seasons of their lives.
That became the foundation of SCE Fitness.
My mission isn't simply to make people stronger physically. My mission is to use physical fitness as a vehicle to build relationships, make disciples, and help people become stronger in mind, body, and soul.
I think about the Apostle Paul, who used the profession God had given him as a tentmaker to enter people's lives, build relationships, serve others, and ultimately point people toward Christ. Fitness is the profession God has given me. The gym is the place where I get to meet people, serve them, earn their trust, share life with them, and hopefully point them toward something far greater than fitness itself.
The goal isn't just to build a better body. It's to use the body as a doorway to the heart.
MY COACHING NICHE: ULTRA RUNNING & ENDURANCE
My own athletic journey has continued to challenge me on every level. In 2015, I became an IRONMAN 140.6 finisher. Since then, I've earned Top 10 Spartan finishes, competed with the Elites in Ultra races, and continually pushed myself through difficult endurance and performance challenges.
One of my greatest passions and areas of expertise is ultra running—helping runners prepare to run their best race, whether that's their first ultra or their next big breakthrough.
I've had the privilege of helping some of my beloved SCE team members accomplish something that very few people ever will: running 100+ mile ultras.
That is an incredible feat.
But what makes it so special to me isn't simply the distance. It's everything that happens along the way.
There is something incredibly powerful about doing hard things together. The training, the early mornings, the long miles, the setbacks, the doubts, the victories, and eventually standing at a finish line after you've given everything you have—it brings people together in ways very few things can.
We don't just train together. We share in each other's stories.
When one person accomplishes something they once thought was impossible, we all get to celebrate it. Their victory becomes part of our story as a team. Their perseverance inspires someone else to keep going. And when someone struggles, the rest of us get to come alongside them and remind them that they don't have to do it alone.
That's what I love about endurance sports and the SCE community.
Doing hard things together is incredibly inspiring.
I don't just want to help you finish an ultra. I want to help you discover who you become along the way.
My own races have taught me that a finish line doesn't define us. I pursue these challenges because they continue to humble me, expose my weaknesses, and teach me what perseverance, discipline, and faith look like when things get hard.
Every race has taught me something.
Every failure has taught me something.
Every setback has taught me something.
And every time I've had to keep moving when I didn't feel like I could, I've been reminded that growth rarely happens inside our comfort zone.
Those experiences have given me real, hands-on knowledge in training, nutrition, endurance, performance, and developing the mental strength required to accomplish difficult goals. But more importantly, they've taught me that true transformation isn't just physical.
My goal is for you to experience that same kind of growth—not only in your fitness, but in your life.
With consistency, perseverance, the right guidance, and a willingness to trust the process, I believe you can break through barriers and discover more of your God-given potential than you ever thought possible.
I live by the saying:
“Motivate the mind and the body will follow.”
But I've also learned that what we put our minds on matters. We must put our minds on the things that are good, true, pure, and right so we can take what we thought we knew and see it in a new light by actually living it out.
This is where Romans 12:1–2 became so meaningful in my own journey. Paul tells us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—our true and proper worship—and not to conform to the patterns of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
That's where my journey began.
Our bodies are not just something to improve; they are something we are called to steward. Physical fitness can be an expression of worship and good stewardship of what God has entrusted to us. And when we learn to care for our bodies, discipline our minds, and surrender both to Christ, fitness can become much more than a physical pursuit—it can become another way God draws us into a deeper relationship with Him.
Because fitness is psychological as much as it is physical. Your body will often stop where your mind tells it to stop. Lasting change begins when we learn to change the way we think, the way we live, and ultimately what we believe about ourselves.
For me, that transformation began with Christ.
That's why my objective isn't simply to help you change for a season.
My objective is change for life—for the rest of your life.
I want to help you become stronger, healthier, more confident, more disciplined, and more resilient. But I also want to know you beyond your workout. I want to know your story. I want to celebrate your victories, walk with you through your struggles, and be someone who encourages you when life gets hard.
My clients describe me as fun, high-energy, and always smiling. And I love that fitness can be fun. But what drives me most is watching someone realize that they are capable of more than they believed.
Seeing someone lose weight is exciting.
Watching someone cross a finish line is incredible.
Seeing someone become stronger is rewarding.
But seeing a person's life change—seeing them discover purpose, hope, confidence, and a deeper understanding of who they were created to be—that is what makes this more than a job for me.
This is my calling.
I believe God has given me fitness as a profession, but people are my ministry.
And every day I have the privilege of stepping into the gym, I get another opportunity to do what I believe I was created to do:
Train the body.
Strengthen the mind.
Reach the heart.
Build relationships.
Make disciples.
And ultimately point people toward Christ.
That is SCE Fitness.
Strength. Core. Endurance.
Not just for a better body.
For a better life.
My wife Heather and I started SCE Fitness in 2013 in Spokane, WA, with a simple vision: to create a personalized gym where people can come as they are and feel safe, supported, and empowered. Whether you’re looking for physical health, healing, or competitor-level training, the journey naturally fosters mental and spiritual growth, helping create whole-body balance.
At SCE Fitness, we live by our name: Strength, Core, and Endurance. I understand that body, mind, and soul are all connected—when one area is off, it can affect the others, creating imbalance. My goal is to help you strengthen your foundation, steady the core of your life, and build the endurance to not just survive, but thrive.
Heather and I are here to help you live your best life—stronger, more balanced, and fully empowered.
